When I left Mississippi after Katrina, Mom began homeschooling me thru out my work in New York. Once I got to Hollywood and got into high school, things began to change. We felt that I needed a stronger base of education and began looking into schools in California. As an actor, you need the flexibility for an ever changing schedule but still not lose the quality. It took several tries in different programs until we found the right fit. I love learning and I wanted to do it right. Although I had already passed the California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE), I had no idea if after the series ended I would just want to attend a 4 year college right away. So with the CHSPE under my belt so that I could work as a legal 18, I continued on with the last two years of my schooling.
It was a rough go... but as I crossed the platform of the stadium to accept my diploma and saw my parents in the stands proudly waving and yelling like banshees.... I was glad I did!
