WOW! Seventeen years, and a lot has happened. I'm facing the end of my high school career and as I think about all that has happened, I realize how important my family has been. They always made me feel that asking for support in my dream wasn't too much to ask. Dad sacrificed his years with me to support me as I walked the streets of a city so far away as I lived an adventure of a lifetime to follow my dream. Those years I can never give back, but I try with my respect, love, and hard work to make him proud. My mom, what can I say? She gave up everything for me. She packed up a bag, began to homeschool me, moved to a city where we knew no one, and made a plan to search for the end of the rainbow. The end of the rainbow is not to be famous... there is no end... its the journey. The journey of a lifetime with the people that I love. My parents gave me everything: when I sang with the Mississippi Boy Choir, when I was a member of the Boy Scouts, they sat in the stands at my baseball games & in the audience at all my theatre shows. Along with them sat my sister, Cassidy! I feel her life and musical theatre experiences helped train me to be prepared for the professional world. Her love for theatre and music helped as I auditioned for Broadway shows, I would take all that she taught and perform as honestly as I could. She would run lines with me, work my vocals, comb that cowlick into place and never once had a jealous bone in her body or ask for anything in return except for me to do my best.
On June 11th I will walk in my high school graduation...the end of a journey and also beginning the of another. Education has always been my driving force. Acting has been my joy! Through these years I realize that I have been given the best work experience, the best education and the best family anyone could ever ask for. My journey continues.
Always, Dylan
